Quadzilla

I am currently selling this quad, Click here to view the for sale ad.

I started with a well used LT500 frame, was not even a rolling chassis. It was a basket case but it was better then buying an entire quad, and the LT500 was my frame of choice. First the bottom end of the frame was cut away and new lower support tubes were fabricated, one being a breakaway so the motor could be easily slid into place. This was so that I could place the motor as high up in the frame as possible, that way I had more ground clearance.

The motor came from an '89, 49 state Suzuki Katana 1100. This is a 1127cc motor that has a better cam suited for more low end then the GSXR, other then the carbs everything else is the same. I added a set of Keihin 39mm flat slide carbs and a trick custom made 1-5/8 inch exhaust system were fitted to the powerplant, this was actually a 2 phase project, the first exhaust was quick and easy, but not even close to ideal. The second attempt was more calculated when I made all the pipes equal length within a 1/4", what a huge differance in power! Uni filters and Outerwears help keep the sand out and things breathing well. Because of the size of the motor and the mounting position, a custom made aluminum gas tank was required.

Laeger provided a 10" swingarm to help hold the front end down. 12 paddle Taller Haulers mounted on Douglas Red label double sided bead locked wheels and bolted to a Dura Blue axle help hook it up. To bring things back up to original ride height, P.E.P. modified the stock shocks and adjustable reservoirs were added.

PRM aluminum bumpers grace both the front and the rear. Three 75 Watt Lazer Stars and a lighted Q-wip add enjoyment to frequent night rides. Its all topped off with a custom scalloped seat cover.

We hit Pismo as much as posible and head to Glamis and CoosBay at least once a year. Hope to make some trips to other places such as Utah, Idaho and Nevada. The Wall
