Pismo Beach is the place that has been most frequently
visited. About a 3.5 hour drive from San Jose. The best time
is during the winter months, if you can find a good weekend
that does not rain, the wind will be almost non existent. In
the summer months, it is a bit warmer but then you have to
deal with the wind because it will pick up in the afternoon.
Here are some pictures from some of our many trips to Pismo Beach. The beach is open to camping and off-roading all year around. Well, as long as the river will let you get though. That is the only caveat during winter travel to the beach. Twice a year a 4 wheel drive club sponsors 100 yard drag races. Camping is $6 a night and $4 for a day pass.
