Glamis, CA. is about a 12 hour drive from San Jose, CA. It is located on the Mexican boarder. Now this place was awesome!! The best time to visit Glamis is in the winter months. However, this is only due to the fact that it is located in the desert. In the winter months it is usually in the 70's and 80's. If you go in the summer, expect to do most your riding at night, temps during the day are in the 100's.

If you really like action plan your trip on either Thanksgiving or New Years. Get there early because all camping is first come, first serve and on these two weekends there will be some 100,000 people there. Glamis is managed by BLM, so there is no charge for camping, however, there is also very limited facilities.

For those of you that are up on the latest technology, and are sporting a GPS (Global Positioning System) here is some coordinates of some landmarks worth seeing. I did not take these, they were given to me by a friend, but let me tell you they are great to have. It took us 2 days the first time we tried to find The Wall!

1. The Wall: N32° 53.806, W115° 01.530
2. Wash10 / Bar: N32° 58.806, W115° 02.723
3. Bawey Slide: N32° 56.054, W115° 04.004
4. China Wall: N32° 54.048, W115° 02.019
5. HWY78 at Olds hill entrance: N32° 59.653, W115° 05.386
6. Lizard Hill: N32° 55.057, W115° 04.004
7. Gecko Camp: N32° 56.490, W115° 08.262

The Wall was the longest steepest dune that we ran across. I would say it is at or close to the angle that sand will hold without letting gravity take it's place.

Wash10 / Bar we never got to it, but I am told it is a working bar in the middle of the dunes. Something about dollar bills comes to mind....

Bawey Slide and Lizard Hill, have no idea?

The China Wall is not as big as the Wall, but it's also not far from the Wall, just over the hill.

Gecko Camp is were we stayed, there are plenty more places to camp.

Olds hill entrance is located near HWY78 and it takes you about 3 miles though the dunes to Oldsmobile Hill.

Here are some more pictures of Glamis.
